was discussing with dear over dinner about the renovation contactors and their concepts, our budget (for renovation, furniture, electrical appliances, ROM, etc), details of ROM, ... we discussed till a point where dear seems to find that i'm too "kan-cheong" to start looking for renovation contactors, furnitures, wedding bands, bridal studios..
as i've mentioned just now, its never to early to start looking around for all these coz our ROM is just 3 months away, we are collecting our house keys within 2 months and we have to make sure our house is ready before the start of lunar 7th month, which begins on 01-aug-08 which is 5 months away, otherwise we will have to waste one month doing nothing!
renovation:
really its not early. if we are to work backwards, lets give ourselves 2 weeks buffer and set a date of moving in by 15-july. furniture and electrical appliances need about 1 week to deliver. renovation works + final touch up takes about 6 weeks. we need another 3 weeks to select tiles, flooring, colour theme, drawings preparation by interior designer, revision of drawings, final approval, etc. thats a total of 10 weeks and it means that we have to confirm the selected interior designer by 01-apr-08! if we are to start requesting for quotations only when we collect keys which i estimated to be latest end-apr, can you imagine the rush we have to face? we will not be able to get a good price, we have to accept designs which we don't like, we have to accept poor workmanship...
wedding bands:
this is one classic example. although our ROM is set on 21-jun which is more than 3.5 months away, i've actually dragged dear along to look for wedding bands @ PP last sunday. yes i know i'm abit "kiasu" to actually start looking around so early and i strongly believe dear felt the same way too but guess what? my finger is so slim for a guy (my ring size is 9) that all the jewellery shops we went to doesn't have my size! they recommended that i may have to custom-made one and they quoted us 2-3 months! yeah i cannot believe it either but 2-3 months to bend a small piece of metal and add a stone on top of it? so imagine if we only start shopping for it 2 weeks in advance? i won't want to imagine wearing moshi moshi couple 925 rings during our ROM day...
ROM:
i've requested for details and price of packages from bridal shops and i don't think its too early for that. if we are lucky, we probably can settle it 2-3 weeks if all the fitting went smoothly. but what happens if alteration is required for the dress or my shirt? what if we cannot find suitable make-up artiste and hair stylist? what if their schedule have been booked on the actual day if we only contact them 2 weeks earlier?
dear.. there are many what-ifs.. we are new to all these thingy so there are alot of risk involved. furthermore its people we are dealing with.. as i've also mentioned over dinner, people are funny creatures. they will drag till the last minute even if they are given ample time before hand.. since we have the time now, why not start earlier and give ourselves more choices and give everyone more time to work on it?
trust me dear, you will appreciate what i've done now when everything is over and we relook at this post again.. =))

Dear dear, you may have mistaken my intention. This is not really what I feel. I may seems not so anxious over the whole preparation period. But its all because things comes too sudden for me to get mentally prepared.
I have always wish to get settled down together with you but later I realize that I may have a bit of pre-marriage phobia. Really don't know why. So since its already destined for us to settle down soon, do let me have some time to slowly indulge in the whole process of getting near to our future home.
