hunting for interior designer #2 / furniture #1

1st stop: nova furnishing pte ltd
person-in-charge: daren koh

nice and friendly guy who introduced us some of the better pieces in the store. especially like the 3-seater sofa set as its really comfortable but it will set us back by $650 + delivery cost.. *heart pain* wanted to look for dining set + tv console + coffee table but none caught out eyes. very ex for all the items as the average price is about $700~$900 per item.. damm expensive lor.. suddenly feel that ikea is really cheap as i can get a pretty decent tv console at $200! also he introduced us a spring mattress at $1699! *gulp* my all-time favourite seahorse is only about $500 lor.. haha!

2nd stop: baroque design pte ltd
person-in-charge: mike lim

located at a "not-so-friendly" place along joo chiat road makes it not that easy to find without a proper map. to make things worst, its raining cats and dogs!

by the time we arrived at baroque, its about 145pm, 15mins late for our appointment. was greeted by mike at the showroom with "i thought you are not coming already.." =/

anyway we learnt quite abit from this guy. gave us some really fresh ideas on the layout of the living room which is quite problematic due to size constraint. he suggested that we have L-box all the way from the entrance to the end of the living room so as to create the "wow" effect. not a bad idea after he showed us a picture of how the end result would look like.

another good idea from him was to create a feature wall at the living area which will bring the tv closer to the sofa. this will eliminate the problem of having an odd viewing angle when sitting at the left hand side of the sofa and will compliment the L-box which will look great with the lights on as the backdrop. dear had a great idea of using glass for the wall but the only limitation it has is that the LCD TV will not be able to mount on the wall and will have to be placed on the table instead. another solution is to use stripes of wooden pillars to create the same see-thru effect. i'm thinking of creating an "art gallary" along the passage way so as to fully utilise the space using either paintings or the postcards collection of dear's =))

well, of coz there are something which we dun like about this guy. for instance, he kept on suggesting that we hack down walls and make build in wardrobe. its really a no-no for us as it will certainly add-on to the final bill! also when we mentioned about limited budget, he doesn;t really seemed to be very interested about the deal..

3rd stop: fuse design pte ltd
person-in-charge: alvin

wanted to meet him at his showroom but he requested us to meet him at expo instead as he was having a road show there. well.. i didn't know that its NATAS + watsons sale + popular sale there that all the parking were full!!! arrrgghh!!~~ nvm.. next time then meet him lah..

4th stop: ikea tampines

haha.. 2nd time to ikea in two consecutive days. the purpose this time is to see and feel which furniture are suitable for our home. went thru almost the whole store from sofa to plates and lights. also jotted down the details of items which caught our attention and which we felt that should be part of our new home. =))
