bkk 2nd day

after a good rest last night, we are all ready to embark on our 2nd day in BKK!

breakfast was at the hotel's cafe. its not buffet style and they only serve 5 kinds of breakfast: american, mee soup, fried rice, pancakes and fried beehoon.. portion isn't big enough for both of us although we are considered small eaters already... so we went back to the room for the mister donuts we bought last night from MBK! nice and yummy!!

our first stop: wat arun (temple of the dawn)

cam-whore while waiting for the train..

took the BTS to saphan taksin station for the sathon pier. from here we will take the ferry to wat arun and wat po.

we are here!

view from top of wat arun

overlooking chao phraya river

its a challenge to climb up wat arun, its even more a challenge to climb down.. =X

we like taking pics with statues.. its ironic that while we tourists are taking pictures with the statues, the locals are kneeling infront of the statues for prayer.. hmmm...

after more than an hour at wat arun, its time to say good bye!

next stop: wat po (temple of the emerald buddha)

nothing much in here except for the reclining buddha, and we only took less than 10 mins to complete the tour!

next stop: the grand palace

the walk to grand palace took like eternity! worst thing is that it costs about S$30 for both of us to enter, which we don't think its worthwhile. instead, we took pictures outside of the temple and palace..

and dear is very good to catch me digging black gold while studying hard on the map.. =X

its almost lunch time so we decided on chinatown for the much hyped sharkfins!

next stop: chinatown

here we are!

faces of chinatown

the big swing

we settled on the famous nam sing restaurant for our lunch. since we are in thailand, we will like to try their tom yam soup and pineapple rice, and not forgetting their speciality, sharkfin soup!

our sumptous lunch for only S$40!!

now you see it...

now you don't! look who's eating them all! =((

after the lunch, its a walk along the wholesale market in chinatown..

nothing much to buy here... and we went back to the hotel for a short rest before we head back to MBK for dinner =))

thats all for today and tomorrow will be chatuchak!!
