after the numerous visits to ikea to brainstorm ideas for our home, we have decided to take a solid step towards realising our dream home, ie to check out the availability of flats at hdb hub!
as its out virgin attempt of getting a house, we have absolutely no idea what is the procedures so we sat down with one of the customer service officers to enquire more about the various options available to us as a first time buyer...
some key points to note:
1. if we are to get a new flat, we will not be allowed any subsidy as the cost of flat is already subsidised. furthermore, new flats take a long time to ready (in 4 to 6 years time) so we are advised to try out the bi-monthly balloting exercise as either the flats are readily available or the waiting time is usually 1 to 2 years which actually sets in nicely for us..
2. if we are to get a resale flat, we will get 30k grant from the government as we are first time buyer. on top of that if we manage to get a flat within 2 km of either parents, we get additional 10k off! this offer sounds good too!
anyway the next bi-monthly balloting exercise will start in a week's time on 11 june with flats in punggol, sengkang and hougang on offer.. shall try our luck =)
